Why we started LL Media
This company exists because of a contract that arrived on a Friday afternoon.
It offered a creator four figures for a video. It also claimed perpetual worldwide rights to that video for any purpose, blocked her from working with anything in the same category for a year, and had no cap on revisions. She was going to sign it, because it was the most money anyone had offered her and she had nobody to ask.
We read it, sent back six changes, and the brand accepted five of them without argument. The whole thing took an afternoon. The gap between what she was about to accept and what she was actually able to get was not talent, or leverage. It was just having someone whose job it was to read the thing.
That is the entire idea. Creators make the work; somebody else should be handling the paperwork, the pitching and the arguing. We are starting today with a handful of people and a promise that we will never take a deal we would be embarrassed to see posted.
